Robert L. Bartlett


1935-2017

 

• Robert Leon Bartlett, 82, of Mansfield, PA, passed away September 24, 2017. He was born February 16, 1935, in Wellsboro, PA, the son of Louis and Helen Yaudes Bartlett. Bob was the owner and operator of Bartlett Trucking Co. since 1953. He was a lessor to B&D Transfer for 50 years and drove over 5 million miles without a reportable accident. He also owned West’s Restaurant and Motel, and was a car and truck salesman for Ralph’s Ford of Mansfield. Bob was a Sargent in the US Army serving from 1957-1959. He was a life member and past president of the Mansfield Hose Co., a charter member, life member, and past president of the Mansfield Ambulance Assoc., a 65 year member, past commander, and treasurer of the American Legion, and a life member and past commander of the Canoe Camp VFW. Bob served many years on the Municipal Water Authority, and was a life member of the Mansfield Lion’s Club, where he was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a 50 year member of Friendship Lodge # 247 F&AM, Williamsport Consistory, and the Irem Temple Shrine of Dallas, PA. Bob was a life member of the Arnot Sportsman’s Club, Hillside Rod & Gun Club, and the Wheel Inn Club where he also served on the Board of Directors. He was a Past President of the Charleston Alumni Assoc. and served as president of the Welsh Settlement Cemetery Board of Directors. Bob is survived by his loving and caring wife, the former Madeline (Maddy) Phillips, his children, Martin (Sarah) Bartlett, Marcia Bartlett, Douglas (Kristin) Broughton, Diane (James) West, his grandchildren, Angela (Mike) Wenrick, Chad (Jenny) West, Kristin Broughton, Brandon (Lori) West, Katie (Jared) Broughton, Zachary (ChaeAnn) Bartlett, MegAnn Bartlett, and Becca Bartlett, his great grandchildren, Legacy, Lucas, Chloe, Clayton, Bryson, Mason, Olivia, Emmitt, and Conner, 2 brothers, O. Richard Bartlett, Henry (Betty Lou) Bartlett, Bernice Superko, his first wife and the mother of his children, sisters-in-law, Jo Ann (Amos) Osborn, and Nina McCarthy, aunts, Nancy Yaudes, and Neva Bartlett, his nieces, Kim (Cris) Fessler, Robin (Duane) Koser, Lori (Scott) Fessler, Sherri Bower, Holly (Danny) Lamonski, and many cousins. Bob was predeceased by his son, David Broughton, and his brother, Howard Bartlett. Bob’s favorite thing to do was travel. He had driven in every state, in addition to all of the Canadian Provinces. A great time was had vacationing in Mexico, the Canary Islands, Asia, Africa, & the Arctic, in addition to North and South America. Bob especially enjoyed traveling back to Germany 20 years after he had served there in the Military. He visited his German Co-Bus driver, who invited the whole village to visit, and celebrate with wine, cheese and coffee. Bob is well loved no matter where he goes. He made friends for life and truly will be missed. Friends are invited to a viewing to be held at the Mansfield Fire Hall on Saturday, September 30, 2017, 1-5 PM. Mansfield Hose Co. and Friendship Lodge # 247 F&AM will conduct services there at 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service with his friend, Rev. Darwin (Tink) Cranmer officiating. Tioga County Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors. Private burial will be held at Welsh Settlement Cemetery.
